The 5th issue of TRANSrisk Working Documents entitled "How Kenya can transform the charcoal sector and create new opportunities for low-carbon rural development" has been published.
The issue is co-authored by Hannah Wanjiru (SEI) and Geoffrey Omedo (UNDP). It draws on the fact that Kenya cannot control charcoal production since it mostly occurs in the informal sector, and examines the progress to date of efforts to formalise the charcoal sector, as well as respective opportunities and key challenges ahead.
It has been created within the framework of the TRANSrisk case study in Kenya.
