TRANSrisk researcher Krisztina Szendrei has published the article "Reaching the 2020 Target? The Potential Role of Solar Energy in the Netherlands", in JIQ Magazine vol. 23, no. 4.

In this 2-page article the potential support of solar energy to achieve the Dutch renewable energy target of 14% by 2020 is analysed. Particularly, the article using the predictions of the "national onshore wind monitor" for the energy production from onshore wind sources and assuming that the energy production goals for offshore wind, biomass and biofuels will be reached, estimates the solar energy required to reach the 2020 renewable energy target in the Netherlands. The article concludes that although solar energy could provide great flexibility in reaching the 2020 goals, there are multiple factors preventing the implementation of large solar PV parks. Finally, the article suggests that project developers of large-scale solar energy projects should learn from the experiences of wind park developers.

Moreover, the article highlights the survey on the public perception regarding the adoption of solar energy projects which was implemented by TRANSrisk partner JIN within the framework of the TRANSrisk case study in The Netherlands. The results of the survey will be distributed in the upcoming period.
