TRANSition Pathways and RISK Analysis for Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Strategies

Issue #7 April 2017

TRANSrisk is an exciting new EU Horizon 2020 project studying the risks and uncertainties that lie ahead as we transition to a low carbon world. Our work examines the technical, economic and social feasibility of potential low carbon transition pathways. The project's outputs will help countries develop NDCs that complement socio-economic goals and assess risks and uncertainties associated with their potential pathways.

TRANSrisk Events

TRANSrisk hosted the debate session The Role of Behavioural Change and Human Innovation Systems in Mitigation Policies: Findings from the Horizon 2020 TRANSrisk Project, on Tuesday 7th of March at Commission Premises in Brussels.

The session explored the potential role of behavioural change in meeting carbon reduction targets, focusing on outputs from the TRANSrisk project.

Moreover, TRANSrisk's Mid-Project Workshop was held on 7th & 8th of March in Brussels.

Participants had the opportunity to review the initial results of work implemented so far, and to plan the next steps regarding TRANSrisk case studies.

More TRANSrisk Events are available at the Events webpage of TRANSrisk Website.

The following reports are now available:

Implications of Mitigation Portfolios Based on Stakeholders

This report explores the implications of different mitigation portfolios, based on stakeholder preferences. More particularly, the report integrates qualitative stakeholder engagement with quantitative modelling so as to analyse the various global transition pathways.

Report on Social Discourse Analyses and Social Network Analyses

This report describes the development of a methodological toolkit regarding socio-technical transitions, and its implementation in the biogas case study in Bali, Indonesia.

TRANSrisk reports can be found at our Virtual Library.

TRANSrisk Policy Briefs

The 1st issue of TRANSrisk Policy Briefs was published. It explores the trade-off risks within low-carbon transition pathways in the livestock sector in the Netherlands. More particularly, the brief begins by presenting an overview of key environmental policy frameworks relevant for the Dutch livestock sector, subsequently it analyses the interactions within these policy frameworks and finally, identifies potential trade-off risks.
