Eise Spijker, researcher at TRANSrisk partner Joint Implementation Network (JIN), took part in the European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE) by presenting the assessment of social, economic, and environmental effects of the "Integrated Manure Management" (IMM) climate change mitigation strategy. The assessment has been implemented within the framework of the TRANSrisk case study in the Netherlands.
The study focused on low carbon transitions in areas with high livestock densities in the Netherlands, and explored the risks and uncertainties related to two alternative climate change mitigation pathways for the livestock sector. The considered pathways were Integrated Manure Management (IMM) and Reduction of Livestock (RL).
Dr. Annela Anger-Kraavi of TRANSrisk partner Cambridge Econometrics has carried out the quantification of the side-effects of the identified transition pathways using the macroeconometric Energy-Environment-Energy model (E3ME).
